Cut-resistant clothing protects athletes from cuts from ski edges or other sharp objects in the event of a fall or collision. The development of this clothing was requested by the FIS (International Ski Federation) due to the increase in serious accidents caused by cuts during races and training. The innovation is linked to a combination of the technical properties of the fabric and the freedom of movement of the garments, which do not hinder top-level sporting performance. In the 3/4 pants, the (thick) protective pads can be removed if desired. This does not affect the cut-resistant properties.

The garments are certified EN 388:2004 Cut Resistant level 4 material, meeting 3-star standards and recognized by the FIS via an official label corresponding to the International Federation's tests.

Proper fitting of the 3/4 cut-resistant trousers is crucial for optimal protection. The lower part of the trousers consists of an elastic Lycra band: this must cover the calf and be pulled over the inner shoe inside the ski boot. This ensures the Maglia trousers protect the legs up to the plastic edge of the ski boot. In this way, the cut-resistant material fulfills its purpose of total protection, remaining snug and preventing it from riding up during movement and exposing the calf. This solution offers even greater comfort and fit to the 3/4 trousers, allowing for necessary adjustments for athletes of the same size but with differences in leg shape and length. The cut-resistant trousers must absolutely meet this condition of total leg coverage up to the ski boot: the Lycra part does not protect against cuts and serves to remain inside the edge of the ski boot. If the leg thickness does not allow this, a different size of trousers must be worn that meets these conditions. When purchasing, it is always advisable to try on the garment with the ski boots to check that the Lycra gaiter actually stays inside the lining after the ski boot shaft is closed and to test that during bending movements of the legs the trousers do not ride up and expose the calf.
